We’re thrilled to announce that the long-awaited features of Minecraft 1.16 (Nether update) and 1.17 (Caves and Cliffs part 1) have arrived in Minecraft: Education Edition! Check out our new features and more in our GOAT update which is live today!  

There are many new features to try, including:  

  • Nether Update 
  • Caves and Cliffs Part 1  
  • 40-person multiplayer  
  • Photos as items 
  • Structure block updates 
  • New player skins 
  • Library updates

Known Issues:

  • Some lessons may not have new content (e.g. new blocks, items, and mobs may not be in the creative inventory). We're currently working to fix the lessons affected.

Windows Hotfix 11/11/2021 - We have released a hotfix (v1.17.30.52) for the Windows version of Minecraft: Education Edition that will fix an issue that caused a "Sign-in required" error on specific proxy environments. This will roll out similar to any other update on Windows. See our PC update article for more info.
